The good news is that some of the performers are already well-known from Ukrainian films and theatrical productions.
The film "Hutsulka Xenia" is an adaptation of the opera of the same name by Yaroslav Barnich. According to director Elena Demyanenko, the filmmakers were inspired by the very basic principle, in which, for example, the waitress girls from the "Monastery of Hoverla" resembled real Parisians. Indeed, they resemble European women.
It is also worth clarifying: Yaroslav Barnich is a Ukrainian composer, conductor, teacher, violinist, and public figure who was erased from history by the Soviet government for decades. Born at the end of the 19th century in the village of Balintsy near Kolomyia, he now lives in the Snyatinsky district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. He is the founder of modern Ukrainian operetta, although he wrote only four of them, there are also "The Girl from the Maslosoyuz", "Balls", "The Adventure in the Church". The composer also created tango songs in the genre. His perfect pieces, in particular, "Oh nightingale", "Do you see?", "Hutsulka Xenia". At the same time, Yaroslav Barnich is the author of the pathetic tragic symphonic suite "Baturin" on the theme of "Mazeppa" by Boris Lepky.
The comedy-musical "Hutsulka Xenia" does not burden the audience with history and problems. It only ends with the line that a year later, in 1939, the war will begin...
Pokemon Detective Pikachu
I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical about this movie before I watched it. I grew up playing Pokemon games, watching shows and everything related to them, so I had very high film adaptation requirements. If you like any of this, go to the cinema immediately!
The movie shows a lot of Pokemon of the first and second generation, as well as later generations, and I got a lot of pleasure, because I saw them all in a more realistic style. The cute Pokemon really heard you, and Pikachu... He's just the cutest of them all. The emotions on Pikachu's face are very well conveyed, it's impressive. And in general, all the characters are very skillfully animated. That's probably the main reason why it's worth watching this movie. Personally, I would like to see more Pokemon battles, but even without them, the film does not lose its charm. Perhaps such scenes will take place in future films (if any).
This is the first Pokemon movie, and as an old Pokemon fan, I recommend giving it a chance.
