At the fourth Congress of Hunters of Ukraine
The fourth congress of hunters of Ukraine was held. The delegates heard the report of the Chairman of the Republican Council, I. Kotvitsky, and discussed the results of the company's activities over the three-year reporting period.
The speaker and the speakers in the debate noted the great achievements of the society. On the positive side, it was noted that admission to membership in the society and the issuance of hunting tickets are carried out exclusively through grassroots collectives with the obligatory surrender of the entrance and the established technical minimum. Over the past three years, the number of members of the society has increased by 75,000, and now 13,991 grassroots groups unite more than 285,000 people.
The intermediate links of society, its regional and district councils, have significantly strengthened, especially in Kharkiv, Odessa, Poltava and Crimea regions. The Kharkov regional and its Barvenkovsky and Izyumsky district councils have been holding the championship in the socialist competition for three years in a row, as well as the grassroots workers' hunting collectives of Malyshev and Kharkov Electromechanical transport engineering plants, which took first and second places in the region, were participants in the 1957 World Economic Forum.
Funds from entrance and membership fees, production, trade and business activities increased significantly during the reporting period and amount to more than 38 million rubles.
The growth of associated hunting farms was continuous. In three years, their number has doubled and now there are 161 with a total land area of 1662.2 thousand hectares. In these farms, hunting is conducted exclusively according to the shooting pass system. They ensure the conservation of the main livestock, the annual restoration of the number of animals and birds, and the introduction of new species of hunting fauna. The farms have hunting lodges, huts, boat berths, boats, decoy ducks and equipment. The republican hunting recreation center "Krynki" in the Kherson region, which is actively visited by hunters not only from Ukraine, but also from other republics of the Union, has gained well-deserved fame.
The delegates of the congress noted that the society has not yet provided effective protection of the lands of the assigned hunting farms, there are few hunters in them. This leads to incomplete development of the assigned lands.
The best hunters of the republic have worked hard to reduce the number of wolves. By the reporting period, the number of wolves in Ukraine has been significantly reduced. In the first years of the society's existence, 8825 wolves were hunted down in three years, and by the fourth congress, 4640 of these predators were destroyed in three years. With a significant decrease in the total number of wolves in Ukraine, this is no small achievement. Special wolf hunters work in the regional and district councils of the society, who organize raids and destruction of broods in dens.
To strengthen the fight against wolves, the society annually holds contests, paying additional bonuses for the largest number of predators destroyed by individual hunters, brigades and hunting collectives.
